Brand + Technology Company Modern Climate Joins Clear Night Group
Brand + technology company Modern Climate will become the fourth addition from the Twin Cities marketplace to the growing platform of Clear Night Group, a brand, marketing and technology services group.
Founded in 2009 by Keith Wolf, John Moberg and Jason Tell, Modern Climate was named one of the nation’s best small agencies in 2012 by Ad Age, which cited its work for 3M Post-Its, L’Oreal, Jamba Juice, Best Buy, Intel and UnitedHealthcare. The Minneapolis agency, which consistently ranks among the Twin Cities’ top 15, has a history of delivering innovation at the core of its service offering.
The 26-person shop, located on Hennepin Avenue, focuses on customer experience for a roster of clients including Jamba Juice, UBER, Frontpoint Security, the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation and the Mosaic Company.
“Modern Climate was attracted to Clear Night Group because of its vision of developing a house of brands that remain independent and entrepreneurial, but also have the ability to draw from an overall platform of partners who share the same nimble and collaborative culture,” said Keith Wolf, president of Modern Climate.
The acquisition of Modern Climate, expected to close July 1, furthers Clear Night Group’s plans to build a next-generation platform of advertising, public relations, brand strategy, marketing and technology service companies, offering businesses the right mix of solutions to grow and thrive in today’s environment. In December 2014, Clear Night Group made its first acquisition, Minneapolis-based creative agency Gabriel deGrood Bendt (GdB). In 2015, it added a public relations division, McFarland Communications, which became GdB Pitch. And Ackmann & Dickenson (A&D), a digital and software development firm, was acquired in April 2016.

Fred Lake Joins PadillaCRT
Fred Lake, a seasoned public relations practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in health care, has joined PadillaCRT as senior vice president and leader of the agency’s Health Practice. He’s based in the agency’s New York office.
Most recently, Lake worked as a senior communications consultant for health care clients in Florida and South America. Prior to that, he served as executive vice president at Cooney/Waters Group, a boutique health care communications agency in New York.
While at Cooney/Waters, his clients included national nonprofit groups such as the American Lung Association, National Meningitis Association, Visiting Nurse Associations of America and National Foundation for Infectious Diseases. He also led major pharmaceutical campaigns for GlaxoSmithKline, Amgen, Alcon, Endo Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi Pasteur (the vaccines business of Sanofi).
