Metro Transit chooses Clarity Coverdale Fury

Metro Transit, an operating division of the Twin Cities Metropolitan Council, is continuing its partnership with Clarity Coverdale Fury (CCF) for marketing services, as is MNsure, Minnesota’s health insurance marketplace. In addition, CCF has in the same year secured Destination Medical Center Economic Development Agency (DMC EDA), Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (MN DEED), and the Ann Bancroft Foundation.
CCF has been the ad agency for Metro Transit since 2011 and marketing and PR agency for MNsure since 2014. Both relationships came up for renewal and CCF along with other agencies offered proposals with insights about how Metro Transit would continue to build its ridership and communications with riders and for MNsure how to continue to grow the number of insured Minnesotans.
Rob Rankin, President and CEO of CCF said, “Our team is thrilled to continue our successful partnerships with Metro Transit, the Met Council and MNsure. Metro Transit’s ridership has grown and MNsure has increased the number of insured Minnesotans over the past years and we look forward to supporting those trends with smart communications.” He added, “The number of Conscious Consumers is rising in the Twin Cities and elsewhere. Communities want access to sustainable transportation and to healthcare and health insurance that will help them reach economic, physical and emotional fulfillment. CCF specializes in communicating to Conscious Consumers and we understand how their values impact these choices.”
CCF will continue efforts with Metro Transit focusing on overall strategy, media services and creative services.

Adaptability, calmness in a crisis, and timely responses are hallmarks of the public relations profession. However, we’re in the midst of unusual times and we may find ourselves questioning how to proceed. Long simmering racial tensions, disparities and poverty in communities faced with gang violence have public relations professionals and journalists assessing how we approach our work.

A recent Star Tribune report indicates the week of July 4 was “an especially violent week in the Twin Cities and around the country,” as it included the police-involved shootings of Philando Castile in Falcon Heights and Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge; the death of a toddler caught in gunfire in Minneapolis; and an attack in Dallas which left five police officers dead. 

Our state, in particular the Twin Cities region, has been thrust onto the global stage.

In response, Minnesota PRSA has pulled together a dynamic panel – a crisis communications expert; a gender, race and media professor; and a deputy metro editor to share their experiences with attendees. We’ll delve into fine-tuning our skills, and gain insight on conducting media interviews that reflect cultural sensitivity while addressing broader audiences. We’ll also discuss how we care for ourselves in the midst of a crisis; as we move forward – together – in uncharted territory.

Batliner and Senn Named Managing Partners of Carmichael Lynch

Carmichael Lynch today announced the promotions of Julie Batliner and Marty Senn to managing partners of the firm. They join current managing partners Mike Lescarbeau, Marcus Fischer and Mark Feriancek. As managing partners, Batliner and Senn will help champion the agency’s continued growth and success.
Julie Batliner is president of Spong, the public relations agency division of Carmichael Lynch, Inc. She has been a catalyst for growth and integration at the agency, leading an impressive list of both organic and new business wins. Under her leadership, Spong is on pace to have its best-ever growth year in its 26-year history. Batliner’s work has received the profession’s highest honors for developing innovative campaigns that achieve business results. In the past three years alone, her client work has won 32 awards, including honors from PRWeek, the EFFIEs, national and local Public Relations Society of America chapters and the SABRE awards. Batliner was also a recent recipient of the 2016 Women in Business award by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
